Method
Our kindergarten designed the Localized Learning Targets Draft based on the National Preschool Standard Curriculum (KSPK) 2017 issued by the Ministry of Education via integrating our educational ideals, actual developments of preschool children, and the needs of society and parents.
TEACHING METHOD
Thematic Integrated Approach
- An integrated thematic approach to teaching involves integrating all subject areas under one theme. It involves subject lines and helps children to relate basic academic skills to the real world. Children can understand and explore various aspects of knowledge through the theme while developing their observation, logical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- It contains learning corners, each containing materials, apparatus and worksheets for learning different subjects; Language and Literacy, Art & Craft, Blocks & Play, Cognitive, and Science and Nature.
- It is also integrating with The Standard National Preschool Curriculum (KSPK), the guidelines used in most government preschools, including public and private preschools in Malaysia.
Montessori Method
- The Montessori system is an educational system that was developed at the dawn of the 20th century by Italian educator Maria Montessori. It focuses on an individualistic approach to education as every child has creative potential and natural motivation to learn.
- Montessori classrooms can be easily recognised by engaging learning materials with students who demonstrate independent and enthusiastic attitudes. Various aspects of development – cognitive, social, physical, and emotional are taken care of as the students blossom through their early childhood education.
LEARNING METHOD
Cooperative Learning
- Cooperative learning is a teaching method that students in pairs or small groups will complete tasks together.
- This teaching method promotes peer-to-peer respect and encourages students to take control over their learning experience by providing ample opportunity to express and share their personal concerns, feelings and thoughts.
The Play-Method
- An ideal kindergarten classroom is a safe environment that provides ample opportunity for children to play.
- Play is a voluntary, enjoyable and fun activity that is the foundation for a child to become a curious and excited learner later in life.
- Play-based learning helps children develop social skills, motivation to learn, and even language and numeracy skills. Taking the initiative, focused attention, and curiosity about the world are all a part of the play.
Hands-on approach
- The hands-on approach is a teaching method that encourages students to learn through experienced learning.
- Hands-on learning encourages multi-tasking through listening, speaking, touching, and using the senses to explore the environment and simultaneously engages children in problem-solving strategies. It allows young children to interact with the learning materials and make mistakes as they learn practically. As we know, ‘Valuable Learning takes place through Making Mistakes.’
